An ACCREDITED INVESTOR is an individual with at least $1million in financial assets (cash and securities only, not real estate) before taxes, net of any debts. Individuals also qualify as accredited investors if their net income before taxes is more than $200,000, or $300,000 when combined with the income of a spouse, in each of the two most recent years, and who expects to have the same net income in the current year. Accredited investors can also be an individual, either alone, or with a spouse, who has net assets of at least $5 million.
